European leading Blockchain professionals launch Think Tank and announce to publish first “EU Token Regulation Paper”

Leading Blockchain professionals launch the “thinkBLOCKtank” and publish the first joint paper on “EU Token Regulation” including major European countries.

The (currently) European blockchain think tank, a Luxembourg based non-profit organization, will bring leading professionals, lawyers and academics from European countries together. They will provide high quality research, policy recommendations, and analysis on a full range of issues concerning Distributed Ledger Technologies and Blockchains, Cryptocurrencies and Cryptoassets.

Following its formation on the 28th November 2018, the think tank will officially release its first working paper titled “EU Token Regulation Paper”. The working paper builds on the “Token Regulation Paper” issued by the Finance Working Group of Blockchain Bundesverband, the German Blockchain association, in February 2018 (https://www.bundesblock.de/2018/02/10/token-regulation-position-paper/). Subsequently, the group grew to about 50 professionals from 20 European countries.

The “EU Token Regulation Paper” is a pan-European effort to shed long awaited light on the laws and regulations applying to the issuance of tokens in a number of European jurisdictions. In addition to a broad evaluation of applicable token regulations under a EU wide perspective, a detailed analysis has been provided for individual countries such as England & Wales, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, and Poland. A list of the contributing authors can be found in the paper, further country sections will follow.

The “EU Token Regulation Paper” will be presented and discussed with all interested parties at a public meet-up event which will be held in Luxemburg following the formation of the think tank on
